This lot are among the first conversions I've ever done, apart from the odd hand swap and really basic stuff like that. You can very often get away without even needing putty or anything, just slice and glue. Slicing up some plastic miniatures and combining the bits is child's play compared to doing it with metal. I combined these ones with 40K Imperial Guard weapons and heads from Pig Iron Miniatures, who have some nice rebel/sci fi trooper types, too, at very reasonable prices:Ĭlick to expand. It's a lot easier if you can find the bits you need in plastic. The WHFB Flagellants are a fantastic basis for preachers and cultists. If you'd find it handy, I could try and give some more detailed notes on where I got the pieces from. I did a bunch of conversions earlier this year with the aim of doing at least one miniature so that I could have both a male and female member of each of the Dark Heresy career paths: Parts from the Empire Militia set from WHFB go very nicely with parts from Imperial Guard troopers to make good space scum. You can get a lot of joy out of combining bits of various GW plastic kits. They have some good miniatures there for lowlives and criminals. It's also worth taking a browse through the Necromunda range in the Specialist Games section of the GW website. You can make some nice PCs using plastics from the Imperial Guard range, and the Space Marine sets have some useful power armour and weapons for the more well-equipped/high level characters. You'll find a lot of characterful miniatures in the Warhammer 40K Daemon Hunters and Witch Hunters ranges, though some of the really good ones have been discontinued.
